Grants Explained by Category
EV Chargepoint Grant – Renters & Flat Owners
This scheme supports homeowners in flats and renters (both flats and single-use properties) by covering 75% of the cost of one EV charger install (up to £350 inc VAT). You must live in a rental or own a flat, have off-street parking, and a qualifying vehicle. EVHC handles the claim and deducts the grant from your invoice.
Key changes include: must live in rented property or own a flat, installers must confirm ownership or tenancy details, and no more dual chargepoint claims for two vehicles. Only one charger per application.
EVHC will verify your eligibility, install the charger, then claim the grant from OZEV. You are invoiced minus the £350 grant once it’s approved. OZEV typically processes claims in 30 working days.
EV Chargepoint Grant – Landlords
Landlords, RTM companies, freehold companies, charities, PRPs, and public sector bodies can apply. You must be registered with Companies House or VAT registered.
You can claim 200 grants per year for residential and 100 for commercial properties. Each socket covers 75% of install costs (max £350). Each property must have off-street private parking and OZEV-approved chargepoints.
Complete the EV chargepoint grant registration form and email it to LandlordAccounts@dvla.gov.uk. Once verified, you’ll receive a registration number to use when applying.
Energy Saving Trust Grant – Scotland Only
Available to Scottish residents in Category 5–8 rural postcodes or on islands. You must own/lease an EV and provide proof. Alternatively, owners of used EVs purchased via the EST Used EV Loan can apply.
Apply using the EST online form. Include installer quote and EV proof of ownership. Do not begin installation until a written offer is received from EST or funding will be void.
Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
This OZEV voucher-based scheme helps businesses and public bodies install EV chargers. It covers 75% of install costs up to £350 per socket and is capped at 40 sockets per applicant. Vouchers are issued via email and must be used within 6 months.
Businesses, charities, and public sector bodies in the UK are eligible. Choose an OZEV-approved installer, apply via the official portal, and use your voucher to claim after installation. Additional applications are possible until 40-socket limit is reached.
